Fashion Union Dutchmen Framed Vintage Poster Stamp

This is a curated antique Union College poster stamp. fashion It commemorates the 1936 Mohawk Drama Festival that took place on the Union College campus. The poster stamp first originated in England in 1864 as a letter adornment and eventually spread to the US and other European countries. For a time, the "poster stamp" was a stamp imprinted with the design of a poster that won an award in a poster contest. Eventually poster stamps gained wide use in commercial advertising until their gradual demise in the 1940s.

Vintage is 1936. The poster stamp is in excellent condition. Comes in a 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 rustic-style easel-back frame with 1-color mat and attached triangle hanger for wall mounting. For the old school alumnus or fan. Makes a great anniversary or birthday gift.
